Sephora Store Smart Mirror Augmented Reality Real-Time Facial Recognition

Sephora is stepping up its game in the beauty industry by bringing live 3D facial recognition to its Virtual Artist feature, making it easier for users to try on makeup virtually. The updated augmented reality feature allows users to see themselves moving in real-time with the digital makeup, providing a more engaging and comprehensive experience. The new technology update also focuses on providing a seamless user experience with the least amount of steps possible to combat lost sales due to multiple clicks.

ModiFace, the developer behind the update, surveyed non-ModiFace and non-Sephora apps and found that conversion rates dropped by 22 percent when virtual products did not line up or appear correctly on the user's face. With the new technology update, Sephora hopes to combat these lost sales and increase conversions and user engagement.

As more and more mobile apps leverage real-time augmented reality, those that require uploading a selfie may seem outdated. Sephora's inclusion of live 3D facial recognition technology ensures that it stays ahead of the game and provides a fun and accurate virtual try-on experience for its customers.

Sephora's push towards conversational commerce is also reflected in its debut on the messaging app Kik, where it drives sales through one-to-one experiences on mobile that mimic in-store interactions. With the updated Virtual Artist feature, Sephora is taking personal shopping experiences to a whole new level.
